We adopted Sam. He is a great dog and we love him so much. He has definitely raised the bar high. I doubt we’ll ever get another dog because it just wouldn’t be fair. Sam is one-of-a-kind. Just look at those big, brown eyes.

wow

I got this for my birthday… I am so thankful and I feel incredibly blessed. Thank you Cam, Sean, Caleb, Mike, Terri, Kelly and Cory!

I also got this from Caleb who thought of it all on his own!

Holly, Shane, Sara and Scott got me some great running clothes and my mom bought my ticket to the Jars of Clay concert next weekend. I am still trying to choose between a camera bag or eye cream (I am 31 now, you know! Wrinkles are imminent.) from G&G Thomson. What more could a girl ask for?! I feel very loved.

starting a new year

What did I do this year? Last year I posted “30 things to do while I’m 30“. As I look back over the list I am pleased that I did accomplish quite a bit. I’ll have to think about what my goals will be for this year. Here is my updated list:
  1. pursue knowing God better everyday
  2. pray for Cam more frequently
  3. play with Sean and Caleb
  4. take a photography class (I know what class I want to take, maybe this year?)
  5. go to a concert (going to Jars of Clay on 8/24/08)
  6. be involved in a bible study all year
  7. take a painting class (I will do this or maybe I’ll just start painting and see what happens)
  8. create something at least once a week (see above)
  9. wake up earlier
  10. make a new friend
  11. learn something new everyday
  12. go to a play
  13. be a good teacher to Sean & Caleb
  14. get a bike to ride with the boys
  15. pick at least 3 books –challenging ones, and read them (I only read two “challenging” books)
  16. don’t let laundry pile up
  17. learn some new recipes (I got a subscription to Cooking Light– does that count?)
  18. organize my photos (we got a HUGE external hard drive and backed everything up)
  19. be a good aunt
  20. be less selfish
  21. plan our 10th anniversary
  22. have a Fred Astaire marathon
  23. watch less meaningless TV
  24. download new music more often
  25. post photos and updates on our blog more frequently
  26. learn to love things that are healthy, like exercise (I don’t love it but I am doing it regularly)
  27. be grateful instead of complaining
  28. do at least one productive thing everyday
  29. find an organization strategy for scrapbook stuff that works
  30. be a good example

Pirate Initiation

More summer fun! Scott and his parents came up to visit from San Diego last week. The boys had such an amazing time playing together. Sean and Caleb were more than happy to initiate Scott into the Pirate Way. Scott’s mom is Terri’s (Sean and Caleb’s grandma) cousin so I think that makes Scott a second cousin once removed to Sean and Caleb? Really, it’s not all that important, they are family and that’s what matters. The boys really miss Scott! We’ll definitely need to find a way to get these guys together more often!

my favorite little girl

is going to turn ONE at the end of the month! I can’t believe a whole year has gone by already!! I just love this little girl. I was re-reading the account of the day she was born the other day. It was such a beautiful, special, and miraculous time. I am so thankful for her little life and what she has brought to each person in our family. Being an auntie is the one of the most fun things ever!
