Growing Up
Caleb lost another tooth. For whatever reason this one was an emotional moment for me. My baby looks like a big kid now. I can’t believe how quickly time is passing. I feel like I haven’t appreciated enough all the little everyday changes and yet they keep happening. Can’t we just slow time down for a little while? I love seven and six. Sean and Caleb are amazing little people. They are thoughtful and insightful. It makes me smile just to think about them. The things they think up!
This weekend the boys built their new Batman Lego set. They saved up all their treasure money from this summer and bought it. I was reminded of the Christmas they were given their first Lego sets. Sean had just turned four and Caleb was almost three. That Christmas (2002) Sean built Lego sets that were designed to be built by 8-12 year olds. I was remembering how frustrated Caleb would get playing with his Lego ships and guys. They would always break when he tried to play with them. He wanted to make the guys talk to each other and drive the ships but he wasn’t quite able to do it without making them fall apart. Watching him build his set this weekend was fun, he is so capable now. A little emotional moment for me again.
Yesterday I found a short clip I had recorded of Sean singing songs when he was three. Oh, it was SO cute! He loved the song Leaving on a Jet Plane. He knew all the words but he always got stuck on “the taxi’s waiting, blowin’ it’s horn”. Sean I were laughing so hard as we watched it together. It was a great moment.
I want to take the time to appreciate all the little moments and achievements. I don’t want to be so busy that I don’t treasure these amazing gifts God has given me.Murder in the First divx
