Christmas Letter 2005

This year we wrote a Christmas letter to send out with our Christmas cards. I’ve posted the text of the letter here. Click here to view a PDF of the letter as it is printed for mailing.

Dear Friends and Family,

We hope this letter finds you well this holiday season. This past year was a full one. In a sentence: tap dancing, a cruise to Mexico, taekwondo, back surgery, recovery from surgery, marathon training, the Oregon coast, baseball, coaching, running, trip to North Carolina, more running, camping, starting school, still more running, soccer, coaching, the Portland Marathon, resting and walking. It has been a full year! Now, as the year comes to a close, we move into a season of peace.

Sean and Caleb are great! Almost seven and six respectively, they are amazing little men. Both boys are doing really well in school this year, although it could be a bit more academically challenging. Each has made some great friends at school which is an answered prayer for us. They spend much of their time at home working on messy, but beautiful, “art projects”. They are constantly drawing, painting or creating something (usually in their favorite super-hero costumes). I love it! We are so very proud of them. Sean is looking forward to playing baseball again in the spring and summer. Caleb is considering taking dance again this winter and is really excited for soccer again in the spring. Our boys bring us so much joy!

Cam and I are both doing very well. This year has required us both to make quite a few adjustments. Recovery post surgery has taken much longer than anticipated. Coming to terms with a back problem that really can’t be “fixed” with surgery has been a big challenge for me. I need to rely on God and Cam a lot more than I would like to, I hate to admit that I need help, but it has been really good for me. God has been so faithful and Cam has been so incredibly patient and helpful. I am so proud of Cam and what he accomplished in training for, and completing, the Portland Marathon. He showed such perseverance and commitment to his training. I am amazed at how much the process changed him. We make a good team and I continue to see God’s providence in bringing us together. We love each other more with every year, and each challenge we face together draws us closer to each other and to Jesus.

We are so thankful for the involvement of our families and our friends in our lives; each of you is such a blessing to us. We are incredibly grateful for a faith that gives us hope in a time where our world seems so uncertain. Our personal relationships with Jesus are what bring us abundant peace, joy, love, and hope in this season and throughout the year. We look forward to the upcoming year. God bless you!
