Marathon Training - Week 9 - Day 1

I’ve been needing extra time to recover from the long runs the last few times, but I think that by skipping the Day 1 run altogether, I’m doing myself a disservice. So today, instead of skipping it, I just made it a little lower impact and I think it’ll help me to have better success in the other runs this week.

Marathon Training - Week 8 - Day 4

As anyone who reads this site with any regularity can see, I’m not the fastest bloke on the planet. That’s no problem for me, but it led to a funny exchange during my 14 mile run.

Guy On The Trail: “That’s a good pace you’ve got there. Not trying to kill yourself or anything.”

Me: “Well, I’ve got ten miles left.”

Guy: “How many total?”

Me: “Fourteen.”

Guy: “Oh, so you are trying to kill yourself!”

After the first 6.1 miles, I ran back by my house and picked up my sister-in-law’s boyfriend, Shane who ran the last 7.9 miles with me. (Here’s a pic of Shane and Holly, Betsy’s sister.)

I’ll post other photos in this set if people with cameras get them to me. These are photos from Sara’s camera and our camera.

Marathon Training - Week 7 - Day 4

12 miles is a long way. Ran it today (Monday) instead of on Sunday, as I normally would, because we were out of town and it was 90+ degrees where we were.

Directions To Winthrop

These are from Google, so I can’t be blamed if they’re difficult to understand. Be patient, and we’ll all get there.

  1. Take I-5 South to the US-2 Exit 194 to Wenatchee. Stay on US-2 for approx. 119 miles (at this point, you’re getting close to Wenatchee).
  2. Take the US-2 E/US-97 N ramp to Okanogan/Spokane — go 0.4 miles (Do NOT go all the way to Spokane. If you do end up in Spokane, well…I can’t help you.)
  3. Bear right at US-2 E/US-97 N — go approx. 54 miles
  4. Turn left at WA-153 — go 31 mi
  5. Continue on WA-20 — go 1.4 mi
  6. Continue on E Methow Valley Rd — Go 0.9 miles (Welcome to Twisp)
  7. Continue on Division St. — Go 0.8 miles
  8. Continue on WA-20 - go 7.7 miles (Bye, bye Twisp)
  9. Turn left at Riverside St. - go a little less than .5 miles until you come to a 4 way stop.
  10. At the four-way stop in Winthrop, turn right onto Bridge St. and follow the main street (it keeps changing names, but stick with it) up a hill, past the ambulance garage and town maintenance shop. Proceed north one-and-a-half miles as the road turns into East Chewuch Rd. Turn right onto Bear Creek Rd. (look for park signs) and continue to the end of the pavement. Turn right and follow road into park.

It’s about 270 miles (a little less than that actually). It’s probably going to take in the vicinity of 5.5 to 6 hours depending on the traffic and how fast you drive. This is definitely the long way around and it’ll be hot. Make sure you bring enough water.

My cell phone is 360-224-XXXX if anyone gets lost or stuck or broken down or whatever. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how much of a help that’ll be as the cell coverage was pretty awful when we were there last year.

Anyway, have fun and see ya’ll soon.

Google Loves Me Again!

Or so it seems. This is a follow-up to this item. It appears that I’m now the top search result for “Cameron Watters”, both with and without quotes.

Yippee.
