The boys

Cam has been gone since Thursday morning and we miss him a lot! The boys and I spend tons of time together throughout the week- like pretty much most of our waking hours- and we very much look forward to having dad home in the evening and on the weekends. In Cam’s absence, the weekend has definitely had it’s ups and downs.

This picture was from today at Boulevard- one of the “up” moments of the weekend :) Being brothers is so different than being sisters- for many obvious reasons but mainly I see the differences in terms of the physical expressions. My sisters and I would find the smallest couch, chair, bed or whatever and all pile onto it like “puppies” as Cam would call us. Sean and Caleb also are like “puppies” but in a more aggressive way. They are always in constant contact with each other but it’s more like wrestling for who’s most dominant. They love each other more than words can describe but they also find their best/worst opponent in each other. Some days it’s very balanced and then there are days like today…

Looking forward to finishing out our weekend with Cam tomorrow!

School

To change things up a bit this morning, the boys and I packed up our work for today and headed out to Woods @ Boulevard. We have enjoyed our morning here as we worked on Spelling, Language, Math, Art and Reading.

Caleb just finished reading Much Ado About Nothing Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas video The Secret film

from the Shakespeare Can Be Fun! series. He really enjoyed the story. That boy is a reading machine these days! I have a few more of that series on order from Launching Success. Sean worked carefully on his Van Gogh art project today. He started taking an art class at BellinghamART each Thursday afternoon and has already learned so much.

Last week the boys started a soccer class at the Sportsplex. They work on drills and scrimmage for an hour once a week. It is just the kind of activity they need to break up the monotony of this dreary winter weather. I love watching them play– although it’s a bit chilly there.

We just finished up our second book club book on Monday. Participating in book club has been so much fun and so educationally enriching. Our last book, The Year of The Boar and Jackie Robinson, was about a Chinese girl who immigrated to America who falls in love with baseball and Jackie Robinson. We studied Chinese customs, made Chinese food and even incorporated a timeline of African Americans who have made a significant mark on History.

The boys are both continuing to enjoy guitar lessons. Each week they continue to improve and develop their skills. Sean takes playing guitar VERY seriously, practicing multiple times daily. Caleb, on the other hand, wants to be a rock star and hopes that magically his skill will match his desire.

After this week there will be 17 weeks of school left– which may sound like a lot but with how quickly each week passes, I know it’s gonna fly by! I am working on a plan that will help us wrap up each of our separate curriculums right around the same time in June. We have a lot to learn between now and then. Our brains are going to have to stretch and work hard over the next few months. I am going to have to finally

learn fractions! And then, before we know it, it will be summer.
