Small Group BBQ
Our small group is taking some time off over the summer but we planned a couple summer BBQs together. We had a great time before the thunder/lightening and rain started! We missed Jonathon and Deanna though!

Does it get any better than that?
On a whim, I called my good friend Cambria this afternoon to see if by some miracle we could spontaneously coordinate our schedules to get out for a little kid-free time this afternoon. Dates like that are a rarity these days for both of us. It was fun to spend time together today and be able to actually finish a sentence without one of us needing to answer a question or attend to a child.
We went to Fairhaven and checked out my friend Nia’s new shop. It’s a really cute place with lots of fun, one of kind items. I love the new blues and browns that are currently popular in decorating and I am now inspired to paint our office/craft room. From there we moved on to one of my most favorite activities– shoe shopping! I’ve been on a mission to find a cute, comfortable pair of shoes that are versatile enough to wear with jeans, capris, shorts or whatever. I found this pair at Hilton’s. I don’t know if the picture really does them justice. They are really cute on and super comfortable.
We shopped around downtown for a little while in some of the little boutiques– it made me feel old, but we had fun. I had never been to The Red Berry so we stopped in there for some delicious frozen yogurt. If you live in Bellingham you have to go check it out, it’s on Holly St. near Bob’s Burger and Brew.
We had a really full morning (Walk for Life, Soccer, and Baseball) so the pace of this afternoon was just right after all that! It was a nice treat to get out and spend some time with a good friend, pick up some new shoes, have a yummy treat and–it’s not even Mother’s Day yet!
Our family is participating in and raising pledges for the 2008 Walk For Life benefiting the Whatcom County Pregnancy Clinic in Bellingham. W.C.P.C. is a local nonprofit that gives caring support through hundreds of client contacts every year! 100% of donations go to provide free services including pregnancy tests, ultrasound exams, counseling and best of all the unconditional love and support of Jesus.
If you are interested in giving a tax-deductible donation to this organization by sponsoring us you can click the link below, sponsor us and leave a message if you’d like. It is not a per-mile pledge but instead your pledge is a flat amount.
Please click the link above to visit our e-walk page. You can give by credit card or choose to have a reminder of your pledge sent by mail. Or, if you would rather not go to their Web site, and if you have any questions, you can contact me at betsy@h2os.org.
Thanks for your support!
Look at all this fun new stuff from Paperzone and Treasury of Memories! I am excited to make some fun projects with these new Valentine’s Day papers. All the lovey stuff with the reds and browns are great inspiration for Heather’s wedding. We are planning like mad — but everything is coming together beautifully. I can’t believe my baby sister is getting married in about 7 weeks!
I love how my sisters and I work together. We are super efficient and make a terrific team! We all have different talents and abilities and when we work together on a project — watch out– we’re gonna make something amazing happen!
I also want to mention how thankful I am for Colleen and her amazing talent! She has been one of my closest friends for 16 years. She saved the day on my wedding by jumping in, helping me make my dress, decorating and giving directions on the day of. She protected me from having to manage everything so that I could just relax and enjoy my wedding. She’s the kind of girl you want to have around when you need to get stuff done!
Colleen has subsequently helped with both Sara’s and Holly’s weddings and now is working with us on Heather’s wedding. We have all been incredibly blessed by her involvement. I can’t imagine a Cooper girl wedding without her!

We’re off to Seattle to see a play at the Seattle Children’s Theatre — the BFG, one of our FAVORITE Roald Dahl books! We’ll also be visiting the Woodland Park Zoo, spending the day with the Rollos, having dinner and watching the Office with Holly and Shane and visiting/having a sleep-over at Seth and Beth’s.
Hopefully I’ll get some good pictures at the zoo!
UPDATE: No zoo trip this time. It was pouring rain so we went to the Seattle Science Center instead. We had a great trip although no good pictures to share.
for little girls….

Aliza and Gretchen Rollo
Such cute baby girls!
beautiful, summer sunshine. playing at the beach. boat rides and wakeboarding. campfires at sunset. s’mores. family and friends, and family that are friends. flying kites at the bay. superman fanatics in matching t-shirts. mad-libs, rummikub and one-word stories on the 4th of july. fireworks and boat parades. pirates hiding and finding treasure. eating watermelon and strawberries. tanning on tubes and wrestling sharks. togetherness and making memories — it’s all good.
I’ve often said that Bellingham is a very small town. No matter where I go or who I meet, we always end up being connected via some other avenue beyond the one at hand.
For instance, yesterday, I was reviewing a few of the resumes that have come in for the position that was created by my decision to leave Toolhouse. While exploring the website of one of the applicants, and following the trail of links, I stumbled upon the site of a guy that I worked with at summer camp eleven years ago.
Or, how about two months ago, when Toolhouse hired a new production manager? Turns out she went to WWU with one of my oldest friends. Not only that, my dad once fired her partner.
